Getting Started
What is iZapp? ›
iZapp is an all-in-one platform for the UK electrical industry — business tools (quotes, invoices, certificates, job management) for working electricians, plus training tools (quizzes, flashcards, AM2 prep, testing simulators) for apprentices and lecturers, all in one account.
What's the difference between an Apprentice, Electrician, and Lecturer account? ›
Apprentice accounts are free and focused on learning — quizzes, flashcards, progress tracking, AM2 preparation.

Electrician accounts unlock the business tools — quotes, invoices, customers, certificates, job management.

Lecturer accounts are for teaching — managing cohorts, setting tasks, marking student work, and tracking a whole class's progress.

You choose your account type when you register.
Can I use tools from another account type — e.g. an apprentice using the business tools? ›
Yes. At the top of your Dashboard there's a small switch for each tool set: the lightning bolt for work (business) tools, the graduation cap for study tools and, for lecturers, the class icon for teaching (it unlocks once your lecturer account is verified). Your own set is always on. Switch another on and its tools appear on your dashboard and in the menu; switch it off to hide them again. Everyone starts with only their own set on, so the dashboard stays simple.
I'm an electrician — how do I get started with the business tools? ›
Head to Business Tools — if you're new, you'll see a "Getting started" checklist there walking you through setting up your company profile, adding your first customer, and creating your first quote and invoice.
Where can I get help if I'm struggling, or having problems at work? ›
Go to Need help? (also linked at the bottom of every page, and on Learn → Development). It has 24/7 numbers you can call or text — including the Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity's helpline — what to do if you're being treated badly or asked to work unsafely, and the minimum pay and training time apprentices are entitled to. If you're in danger right now, call 999.
What is the 3D Testing Bench? ›
A guided 3D simulator for inspection & testing, at Testing Bench (also on the Inspection & testing page). You pick the right kit, drag the probes and croc clips onto real terminals, turn the tester's dial and read the display. Safe isolation covers choosing a GS38 voltage indicator, proving it, isolating and locking off the right circuit, testing L–N, L–E and N–E, then re-proving. R1+R2 covers nulling the leads, linking line to cpc at the board, measuring at the socket and judging the result. Ring final continuity covers end-to-end r1, rn and r2, the two cross-connections and readings at every socket. Insulation resistance covers the pre-test checks, choosing 500 V, testing L–N, L–E and N–E at the board and judging against 1 MΩ. Polarity (dead) uses the line–cpc link to check each socket and the light switch. The live tests start with a short safety check: live polarity at the origin with a proved voltage indicator, Ze with the earthing conductor taken off the MET (and put back), prospective fault current (PSCC and PEFC, record the higher) and RCD (test button, then 1× IΔn at 0° and 180°, 300 ms maximum). The 3-phase workshop has a TP&N board, rotary isolator and motor: 3-phase safe isolation (six tests at the motor), continuity with phase identification (link each line to cpc and find it at U1, V1 or W1) and insulation resistance (with the motor disconnected). Its live tests cover the 3-phase supply voltages (ten tests at the origin), phase rotation (at the origin and the 5-pin socket), Ze, prospective fault current (2 × the highest line–neutral PSCC) and the 4-pole RCBO.

Every attempt is different — circuit numbers change, and some attempts have a fault planted for you to find (a faulty indicator, a high-resistance cpc, a broken ring, an interconnection, low insulation, equipment left plugged in, reversed polarity, a switch in the neutral, a reversed supply, a high Ze, a slow RCD, a faulty RCD test button, a Zs too high for the breaker or a loose connection showing up as Zs well above Ze + (R1+R2)). At the end you get a score, what to work on, and the results written up as they would go on the schedule of test results. It works best on a phone turned sideways; tap the dial to get a bigger list of positions, and use the lightbulb for a hint.
Can I install iZapp as an app on my phone? ›
Yes — iZapp is a Progressive Web App. On most phones, open iZapp in your browser and look for "Add to Home Screen" (Safari) or "Install app" (Chrome). It'll behave like a native app once installed.
Business Tools — Customers, Quotes & Invoices
How do I create a quote? ›
From Business Workspace, click + New quote. Add your customer, line items, and any notes. Once saved, tap 📧 Send to customer to email it — they can accept it via a secure link with no login required on their end. When they accept, the quote shows a green Accepted banner and you can turn it into an invoice with Convert to invoice.

A quote after the customer has accepted it.
Can a customer accept a quote without creating an account? ›
Yes — the emailed quote has a secure Accept button that's unique to that quote. One tap records the acceptance straight away (no login, no signature) and you're notified; if you use online booking, they're taken on to pick a date. The email also has a link to decline. This is deliberate: requiring a login would stop customers accepting quotes at all.
How does automatic certificate sending work when an invoice is paid? ›
Open any invoice and use the Attached certificates section to search and attach one or more certificates (they need to be published first — see the Certificates section below).

Once you mark that invoice as paid, the attached certificate(s) are automatically emailed to the customer as a full PDF — no manual step needed. If the certificate is finished but the invoice isn't paid yet, the customer instead gets a preview/glimpse with a note that the full certificate follows once payment clears.

On the invoice: search for the certificate and attach it.
What are Payment Terms & a payment link, and where do I set them? ›
In Company Profile settings, you can set permanent payment terms text and/or a link (e.g. to your bank details or a payment page) — this automatically appears on every quote and the customer's acceptance page from then on, so you don't have to re-type it each time. Your bank details for invoices can also be set from the bottom of any invoice page — they're saved once and shown on every invoice and invoice email.

Bank details are saved once and used on every invoice.
Can I see if a customer has actually opened my quote or invoice email? ›
Yes, if you switch on Email read receipts in Business Settings (it's off by default). Quote and invoice pages then show a read status ("👁 Read" with a date, or "Not yet read"). It works by adding a tiny tracking image to the email, so under UK privacy law (PECR) you're responsible for telling your customers you do this — for example in your own privacy notice. Worth knowing: email read-tracking is inherently approximate — some email clients block tracking images by default (shows as unread even if opened), and Apple Mail sometimes pre-loads images automatically (can show as read even if not actually opened yet).
How do I record a part-payment on an invoice? ›
Open the invoice and use the Payments section to log individual payments as they come in — the balance updates automatically, and the invoice status moves between Unpaid → Partial → Paid based on what's been recorded.
Can I search across all my customers, quotes, invoices, and certificates at once? ›
Yes — there's a global search box at the top of Business Workspace that searches names, addresses, quote/invoice numbers, emails, and phone numbers across everything at once.
How do I see what work is coming up next? ›
Open Jobs & calendar (Work → Jobs). On a phone the blue Next up card at the top shows your next job — when, where, and buttons for Directions and Call. On a computer the next job opens in the panel on the right. Underneath is this week (Monday to Sunday — weekends included), then your jobs listed day by day: Today, Tomorrow, then each date. Tap Show the whole month (or Month on a computer) for the full calendar; tap any day to see just that day's jobs and add one on that date. The old Job pipeline and Calendar pages now open this page.
A job is under "Needs attention" — what does that mean? ›
Its date has passed but it hasn't been marked done. Tap Mark done if the work's finished, or Reschedule to pick a new date. Jobs with no date at all are listed under No date yet with a Set date button, so they show on the calendar.
How do I move a job along — start it, finish it, invoice it? ›
Open the job. The big button changes as you go: Start job (you're on site) → Mark done → Create invoice. The Stage bar shows where it is (Planned, On site, Done, Invoiced), and Change stage lets you move it back if you pressed the wrong one. When you add a start time, iZapp asks How long will it take? so the job blocks your diary and online customers can't book over it — press Save again if you'd rather not set a finish time.
Where do finished jobs go — what's "To invoice"? ›
At the top of Jobs there are three tabs: Upcoming, To invoice and Invoiced. Finished jobs wait in To invoice with the value from their quote and how many days they've been waiting, so nothing goes unbilled. Create invoice makes the invoice (copying the quote's lines) and moves the job to Invoiced automatically. For a job with nothing to bill — a walk-round or warranty call-back — use No charge to close it.
How do I assign a job to someone in my team? ›
If you own the team, open the job in Jobs and use the Assigned to box — pick the person and press Assign. They get a notification that opens the job, and it appears in their Jobs. Each job in your list shows who it's with; jobs with nobody on them are marked Not assigned. Owners can also use Showing at the top to see one person's jobs. You can pick who it's for when you create a job too.
Can I export my customers, quotes, or invoices to a spreadsheet? ›
Yes — each list (Customers, Quotes, Invoices) has an ⬇ Export CSV button that downloads everything (not just the current page) as a properly formatted CSV, ready for Excel, Numbers, or your accountant.
What's the Price Book for? ›
The Price Book stores your commonly-used items and their prices so you can quickly add them to quotes and invoices without retyping the same things every time.
How does automatic chasing of unpaid invoices work? ›
Open Business → Credit control. Turn on Automated chasing (under Configure & templates) and iZapp emails your customers for you: a reminder a few days before an invoice is due, then a reminder every few days once it's overdue — you choose both gaps and can edit the wording. Chasing runs once a day between 9am and 8pm, and stops by itself when the invoice is paid.

The page also shows your aged debt (how much is owed and how late) and a worklist of who to chase. Customers with no email address can't be chased automatically — they're marked no email so you can add one. Run chase now sends any reminders that are due straight away and tells you how many were sent or skipped.

Certificates
How do I create an electrical certificate? ›
Go to New Certificate and choose the type — EIC, EICR, Minor Works, Electrical Danger Notification, or Emergency Lighting. Fill in the details, schedule of inspections/circuits, and observations as you would on a paper certificate.
How do I fill in circuits quickly — what does Scan board do? ›
On step 4. Boards & Circuits, the schedule has four tools: Scan board (take or choose a photo of the consumer unit labels or your tester's screen and iZapp fills in the circuit rows for you), Import, Renumber and Remove empty rows. The small purple ⚡1 means a scan uses 1 ZAPP+ — it's handed back if the scan fails. You need at least one ZAPP+ for the camera to open. Below the tools, iZapp checks your readings against BS 7671 as you go (guidance only — always check them yourself).

What does "Publish" do on a certificate? ›
Publishing generates a secure, view-only shareable link for that certificate and marks it as finalised. A certificate must be published before it can be sent to a customer, attached to an invoice for auto-sending, or before the customer preview link works.
What does the customer actually see when I share a certificate link before it's paid for? ›
A protected, view-only preview — styled like a real certificate document, but with several deliberate safeguards:

• Part of the address is redacted
• Whether the result is Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory is hidden
• Observations are replaced with redacted placeholder bars (only the count is shown)
• On the Schedule of Inspections, some pass results are randomly redacted alongside any genuine faults — so a blacked-out result never reliably means "this one failed"
• It's watermarked, and right-click, save and print are disabled to make casual copying harder (no web page can completely stop someone taking a screenshot or photo, so treat it as a deterrent, not a lock)

Once the linked invoice is marked paid, the customer instead receives the complete, unredacted official PDF as an email attachment.
Can I attach a certificate to an invoice directly? ›
Yes — open any invoice (either the full invoice page, or the quick-edit panel inside Business Workspace) and use the Attached certificates search box to find and attach one or more published certificates. This works independently of whether the certificate is linked to a job.
Will iZapp remind me when a certificate needs doing again? ›
Yes. Retests due (Work → Certificates) lists every published EICR, EIC, EV charge point, emergency lighting and PAT certificate with the date it's due again, worked out from the "next inspection" you put on it (e.g. "5 years" from the date issued). It's grouped into Overdue, the next 3 months and later, with Send reminder and Book it in on each. Your Certificates list shows the retest date too.

Automatic reminders are on by default: the customer gets an email 4 weeks before the due date (you can choose 2, 6 or 8) and again on the day, sent at 9am with your company name, and replies come to you. Overdue retests are never emailed automatically — send those yourself. Turn it off any time in Reminder settings. Every email has an unsubscribe link, so tell your customers you send these (e.g. on your invoices).

A newer certificate of the same kind at the same address replaces the older one. If iZapp can't read the wording or there's no customer email, the page asks you for it. "At earliest opportunity" EICRs are listed as remedial work rather than retests.
Can I do a fire alarm certificate? ›
Yes — New certificate → Fire Alarm Certificate (BS 5839-6), for smoke, heat and CO alarms in homes, flats and HMOs. Choose New system (design, installation & commissioning) or Inspection & service for the annual visit.

Fill in the property (type, storeys, who lives there, any gas boiler or fire) and iZapp shows the minimum grade and category BS 5839-6 recommends, with a one-tap Use button. Add each alarm with + Smoke, + Heat, + CO (or Copy last row for identical units), test it and tap Pass or Fail — a Fail asks what you found. For rented homes it checks England's 2022 rules: a smoke alarm on every storey and a CO alarm where there's a fixed fuel-burning appliance.

If you did the design, installation and commissioning yourself you sign once; otherwise turn the switch off and name each person. The next service date (12 months by default, or 6 for Grade A/C) goes onto Retests due once the certificate is issued, so the customer gets your reminder.
How do I keep track of Part P / building regs notifications? ›
On an EIC, answer Building regulations (Part P) with Yes, No or Not sure — iZapp suggests Yes when the work mentions a consumer unit, new circuit, rewire or bathroom. On a Minor Works, tick Where was the work? if it was in a bathroom or other special location (in Wales, kitchens and outdoors too) and the question appears.

Everything marked Yes goes on Building regs (Work → Certificates) with a countdown to the 30-day deadline from the certificate date: Late, To notify and Notified. Copy details copies the address, work, completion date and certificate number to paste into your scheme's website; Mark notified records the scheme, reference and date. You get a reminder in iZapp at day 21 and an email at day 28.

iZapp can't submit the notification for you. Set your scheme and whether you work in England or Wales on your Company profile. Not in a scheme? Notifiable work then needs a building notice to your council before you start.
A team member submitted a certificate for authorisation — where do I review it? ›
You'll get an in-app notification and an email the moment it's submitted, and a banner appears at the top of your Dashboard whenever something's waiting. Review and approve or reject (with a reason) at Authorisation Queue.
A certificate I rejected got fixed and resubmitted — will I be notified again? ›
Yes — each resubmission generates a fresh, unread notification even if you'd already reviewed (and dismissed) the original submission.
ZAPPs ⚡ — what pays for what
What pays for what? (green ZAPPs vs purple ZAPPs+) ›
iZapp has two kinds of ZAPP. Here's exactly what each one can pay for:
FeatureGreen

In short: green ZAPPs are for certificates only. Anything AI, and the Team Overview unlock, needs purple ZAPPs+.
What are green ZAPPs and when do I get them? ›
Green ZAPPs are free. Every account gets 5 green ZAPPs at the start of every month (UK time), and new accounts get 5 straight away for their first month.

They pay for certificates — 1 per certificate, including copies. They can't be used for AI features or to unlock Team Overview.

Your next free ZAPPs arrive on 1 November.
Do unused green ZAPPs roll over to next month? ›
No. At the start of each month your green balance is reset to 5. If you didn't use them, they're gone — use them or lose them. It doesn't matter whether you had 0 or 4 left: everyone starts the month on 5. Your purple ZAPPs+ are never affected by this.
What are purple ZAPPs+ and what do they get me? ›
ZAPPs+ are ZAPPs you buy, in one-off packs (no subscription). They:
• never expire and are never reset
• are the only way to pay for every AI feature — the BS 7671 Assistant, consumer unit and instrument scans, the Scheme of Work generator and AI Tools (1 per use)
• are the only way to unlock Team Overview (100 ZAPPs+, one-time)
• cover your certificates once your free green ZAPPs for the month have run out

Buy them on the ZAPPs page. You'll see the price before you pay and get an email receipt.
I've run out of green ZAPPs — what now? ›
You've got two options for certificates:
• Use ZAPPs+ — if you have any, your next certificate automatically uses 1 ZAPP+ instead. If you don't have any, buy a pack.
• Wait — your 5 free green ZAPPs arrive on 1 November.

The New Certificate page always shows your balances and exactly what the next certificate will use.
Can I use green ZAPPs for AI features? ›
No. Every AI feature uses purple ZAPPs+ only, even if you have green ZAPPs left. AI features cost us money every time they run, so they're paid for with ZAPPs+.
An AI request failed — did I lose a ZAPP+? ›
No. The ZAPP+ is taken when the request starts, and if the AI doesn't return an answer it's returned to your balance automatically — you'll see "ZAPP+ returned" in your ZAPP history. If something still doesn't look right, contact us and we'll put it back.
What is Team Overview and why does it cost 100 ZAPPs+? ›
Team Overview (Work → Team & safety) shows your whole team at a glance: who's on which job today, jobs this week, work finished this month, money waiting to be invoiced, a card for each person, and anything that needs attention (overdue or not assigned). The unlock also opens the team Compliance board and Apprentice progress. It's a one-time unlock of 100 ZAPPs+ (purple only — green ZAPPs can't be used) and you keep it forever. No subscription.
Where can I see my ZAPPs and what I've spent? ›
Your balances are always in the header — ⚡ green and ⚡ purple+. Tap them to open the ZAPPs page, which shows both balances, current costs, when your free ZAPPs next arrive, and a history of every ZAPP added or spent.
ZAPPs page showing free green ZAPPs and purple ZAPPs+ balances
Green = free each month for certificates. Purple = bought, for AI and extras.
AI Tools & buying ZAPPs+
What AI-assisted features does iZapp have? ›
• BS 7671 Regulations Assistant — ask a question, get a guided answer with a regulation reference
• Consumer unit / instrument photo scanning — take a photo, get assistance reading labels or test instrument values
• AI Scheme Generator (lecturers) — draft a scheme of work
• AI Tools — general-purpose AI assistant for electrical queries

All AI output is guidance only — it can be wrong even when it sounds sure. Always verify against BS 7671 and manufacturer instructions before relying on it for real work, and especially before it goes on a certificate.

AI features are powered by third-party AI providers (currently OpenAI and Anthropic). What you type or photograph is sent to them to produce the answer; under their business terms it isn't used to train their models. Avoid including customers' names, addresses or faces. More in our Privacy Policy.
How do I buy more ZAPPs? ›
Tap the ⚡ ZAPPs count in the header (or next to your name on the dashboard), or go to Buy ZAPPs+ directly — packs of 10, 50, or 100 ZAPPs+ are available by card. The price of each pack is shown before you buy, it's a one-off payment (no subscription), and you'll get an email confirmation.
Can I get a refund on ZAPPs+? ›
No — all ZAPPs+ purchases are final. ZAPPs+ are added to your account the moment you pay, and at checkout you agree to that and confirm you understand you lose the 14-day right to cancel. So please choose your pack carefully. ZAPPs+ never expire, so anything you don't use stays in your account. If a feature fails and ZAPPs were taken, they're returned to your balance automatically (or tell us and we'll put them back). Your legal rights if something is faulty aren't affected — see Terms, section 7.
Team & Organisation
How do I invite someone to my team? ›
As the team owner, open Team and send an invite by email, choosing their role — Engineer or Apprentice. They get a link to join. You can change someone's role on the same page at any time.
Where do I see how my apprentices are getting on? ›
Apprentice progress (Work → Team & safety) shows each apprentice's college, NVQ, AM2 readiness, 20% off-the-job hours and recent activity, flagged red, amber or green, with a CSV download. Anyone whose role on your Team page is Apprentice appears here — if someone's missing, the page lists your team with their roles so you can change theirs to Apprentice.
What's on Team Overview? ›
Your team at a glance: who's on which job today, jobs this week, work finished this month, jobs waiting to be invoiced, a card for each person (their next job, jobs to do, finished this month and certificates this month, with a link to their jobs), and a Needs attention list of overdue and unassigned jobs. It's a one-time ZAPPs+ unlock — see the ZAPPs section.
What can Engineers and Apprentices do that I (the owner) can't restrict? ›
Team members (Engineer or Apprentice role) can compile EIC and EICR certificates, but can't finalise them alone — once they submit a certificate, it's locked from further edits and sent to you (the owner) to review and authorise before it's issued to a customer.
Teaching (lecturers)
How do I get my students linked to me? ›
Open Teach — your class code is at the top. Tap Show QR for the class and put it on the screen, or Copy join link and send it. Students scan it, create a free account (or log in) and are linked to you straight away — you get a notification for each one. Students can also type the code under My lecturer.
What's a cohort and why do I need one? ›
A cohort is a class group, e.g. "Level 3 – 2026/27". Linked students only appear in your lists; put them in a cohort (Cohorts → New cohort) to set tasks, schedule mock exams, message the group and track who's at risk. When adding learners, the list shows people who aren't in a current cohort yet — tick Also show learners already in another current cohort to see everyone. Add a written exam date and learners see a countdown on their Progress page.
A course has ended — what do I do with the cohort? ›
Open the cohort and press Mark as finished. It moves to Past on the Cohorts page, its learners stop showing on At-risk, and it's no longer offered when you set work. Nothing is deleted and you can Reopen it. If a cohort's exam date was more than 4 weeks ago, iZapp asks whether it's finished.
How do I move learners up to next year's cohort? ›
Open last year's cohort and use Move learners to another cohort (it opens by itself once the cohort is finished, with everyone ticked). Untick anyone who isn't carrying on, then choose A new cohort… and type its name (e.g. "Level 3 – 2026/27"), or pick an existing one, and press Move learners. You can also move a few learners out of a cohort that's still running — they're marked as having left the old one. Their history stays with the old cohort.
A learner has dropped out — how do I stop them showing? ›
In the cohort, press Left the course next to their name. They stop showing on At-risk and stop getting cohort messages, but their record stays — Back on course undoes it. For someone linked to your class code who isn't in any cohort and no longer studies with you, use Hide in the box at the bottom of At-risk; hidden learners are listed on the Cohorts page and come back automatically if they enter your code again.
How do I set work and see who's done it? ›
Tasks lets you set work with a due date; submissions land in Marking. The Unit tracker shows units signed off and At-risk flags learners who may need a nudge.
What's the difference between Announcements and Messages? ›
Announcements are posts on your students' dashboard feed — good for reminders everyone will see in the app. Messages email a whole cohort and also drop a notification in the app — use them for anything they mustn't miss.
How do mock exams work? ›
In Mock exams, pick a cohort, a mock paper, a date/time and a duration. Every student in the cohort gets a notification and an Open exam card on their dashboard until shortly after it starts.
Apprentice & Learning
How do I choose which qualifications I see in Quizzes? ›
Use the 🎓 My qualifications button at the top of Quizzes. The first time you visit it glows and your quizzes stay locked until you pick — tick the qualification(s) you're studying (or choose Show me everything). You can change it any time by tapping the same button; it saves straight away and always shows what you've picked.

What is an adaptive quiz? ›
A 20-question quiz built just for you from the topics you've been getting wrong lately (judged on your recent answers, so topics you've since mastered drop out). About 12 questions come from those weak topics — easier ones while you're mostly getting a topic wrong, harder as you improve — and the rest from across the course at your level. When you have weak topics, a Revision suggestion appears on the Quizzes page for each qualification you've selected; the quiz itself says what it's focusing on. Adaptive quizzes are part of Pro.

How does the Circuit Builder work? ›
Open the Circuit Builder and pick a circuit type (1-way lighting, ring final, consumer unit, motor control…). Add parts from the toolbox, then tap one terminal and another to join them with a wire (brown = line, blue = neutral, green = earth). Press ⚡ Power up under the board to test it — a moving dot shows the current path when it's right, or you get a list of what's missing. 🗑 Clear all empties the board. You can also add a fault (open neutral, missing earth…) to practise fault finding.

How does quiz scoring work — can I see the correct answers before submitting? ›
No — the correct answers are never sent to your browser while you're taking a quiz, only after you submit. This is deliberate, so quiz results are a genuine reflection of what you know.
Where can I track my overall progress? ›
Your Dashboard shows recent quiz performance and, if you're behind on a topic, a personalised study plan highlighting your weaker areas based on your last 30 days of attempts.
I'm a lecturer — how do I see my students' progress? ›
Teach gives you cohort and task views, marking, and a red/amber/green (RAG) rating per learner. At-risk checks learners in your current cohorts only: anyone who hasn't logged in for 2 weeks or more (counted from when they joined the cohort if that's later), is red on RAG, has failed mock exams since joining, is behind on units, or you've flagged with a note. Each cohort gets a card with its red/amber/green split, and each learner shows the reasons in plain words. Finished cohorts and learners who've left aren't included.
Billing & Account
Do I need a subscription? ›
No — creating an account is free for every account type. The only optional cost is ZAPPs+ top-ups (needed for AI features), which are one-off purchases with no recurring billing. Card payments are handled entirely by Stripe — your card details never touch our servers.
I forgot my password — how do I reset it? ›
Use "Forgot password" on the login page. You'll get a reset link by email — for security this is rate-limited, so if you don't see it within a few minutes, check your spam folder before requesting again.
Privacy, Safety & Your Data
How do I close my account and delete my data? ›
Email hello@izapp.app from the email address on your account and ask us to close it. Export anything you need first (CSV exports and certificate PDFs). We delete or anonymise your data within 30 days, except records we must keep by law (such as purchase records for HMRC). Unused ZAPPs+ are lost when you close your account. Details: how long we keep data.
Can I get a copy of my data? ›
Yes. Many lists (customers, quotes, invoices) have an ⬇ Export CSV button and certificates can be downloaded as PDFs. For a full copy of the personal data we hold about you, email hello@izapp.app — it's free and we'll reply within one month. You can also ask us to correct, delete or restrict your data, or object to how we use it. See your rights.
Who can see my progress and scores? ›
Only you and our admins — unless you link to a lecturer or college with a code. Then your lecturer/college can see your name, email, quiz and simulator results, submissions, portfolio evidence, OTJ hours and a red/amber/green progress rating. The rating is an automatic prompt to help your lecturer support you; it doesn't decide anything on its own. If you're in a team, your team owner can see the work you do for the team. Message-board posts show your name to all logged-in members.
How do I report a post, message or user? ›
On the message board, tap ⚑ Report on the post and choose a reason — it goes straight to our moderators and the author isn't told who reported it. For anything else (including cohort or lecturer messages), email hello@izapp.app with "Content report" in the subject. We aim to act within 2 working days, faster if anyone may be at risk. If someone is in immediate danger, call 999. See our Community Guidelines.
Can I delete something I posted on the message board? ›
Yes — your own posts have a Delete button.
How do I make a complaint or appeal a moderation decision? ›
Email hello@izapp.app with "Complaint" (or "Content appeal") in the subject. We'll acknowledge it within 5 working days and aim to give a full answer within 14 days. Data protection complaints are covered in our Privacy Policy.
Does iZapp use cookies or track me? ›
Only what's needed to keep you logged in and secure, plus things you ask for like saved drafts. No advertising cookies, no third-party analytics, no tracking across other sites — which is why there's no cookie banner. Tutorial videos from YouTube/Vimeo only load when you press play. Full details in our Cookie Policy.
How old do I need to be? ›
16 or over. If you're 16 or 17 you need a parent or guardian's permission. If you think someone under 16 has an account, let us know at hello@izapp.app.
I'm an electrician — who's responsible for my customers' data? ›
You are (the "controller"). iZapp stores and processes it for you as your "processor", under the Data Processing Terms in Schedule 1 of our Terms — you don't need to sign anything separately, but email us if your organisation needs a signed DPA. You should tell your customers that you use software like iZapp to manage your records, only send review requests and messages to people who expect them, and only switch on read receipts if you've told customers about them.
Is iZapp responsible for the certificates I issue? ›
No. iZapp is a tool for producing and storing certificates — you, as the inspector/signatory, are responsible for the inspection and testing and everything on the certificate, in line with BS 7671 and your scheme. Validation checks and suggestions are aids, not sign-off. Download and keep your own copies for as long as your scheme or insurer requires. See Terms, section 12.
Troubleshooting
My certificate wasn't sent automatically after the invoice was marked paid — why? ›
The most common reasons:

• The certificate wasn't published yet — only published certificates are ever sent (check for a draft warning badge on the invoice's attached-certificates list)
• The invoice wasn't actually re-marked from a genuinely unpaid state (if it was already showing as paid, marking it paid again doesn't trigger a new send)
• The customer's email address on file is missing or incorrect

If none of these explain it, contact us with the invoice number and we'll dig into it.
An email I sent (quote, invoice, or invite) shows as failed — what do I do? ›
The error message on the page will show the specific reason where possible. The most common cause is a mistyped recipient address — double check it and try again. If it keeps happening for a specific contact, ask them to check whether their mail provider is blocking or filtering messages from us.
I don't see the feature I'm looking for — is it hidden somewhere? ›
Some features depend on your account type (Apprentice / Electrician / Lecturer). Check the switches at the top of your Dashboard — switching on the lightning bolt (work) or graduation cap (study) adds that set of tools. If something still seems missing, get in touch and we'll point you in the right direction.
